I strongly suspect I have ADD. As a kid, we didn't have a doctor. I got sports physicals each year from a school doctor, that's about it. I'm sure I would have been diagnosed back then had I seen anyone about all this. I had off the charts performance on all the tests but just could not concentrate in class or get around to doing the homework. I'm always losing and forget things, to the point were people have mentioned that I must be nuts. I procastinate like crazy. I've always started big hairy projects and had problems wrapping them up. I almost got kicked out of basic training for squirming and fidgeting in formation. Even now, I can't sit still. My lack of attention to detail at work is close to getting me fired now. Anyway, I wanted to know what kind of doctor I should see for a diagnosis. To this day, I don't have a primary care physician, even though I have insurance (BC/BS). Should I see a regular doctor? A Neurologist? Psychologist? Therapist? Can anyone refer someone in the Colorado Springs/Denver/Pueblo area?

If you are still looking for help start with a primary care Dr. and get a full physical and them ask them to refer you to a Psychologist who does ADD testing. That is what I did. I went to my regular Dr. and ask if she would refer me and she did. That Dr. did the testing and then referred my to a psychiatrist. That type of Dr. usually can prescribe meds also if they think they will help. Good luck. Hope this helps.

hello there Zonebox. It is good to see that there is another Colorado person here. Unfortunately, I am in Denver, so I wouldn't be able to recommend a specific doctor. However, I can tell you what has been working for me.
I currently have excellent benefits and am squeezing everything I can out of the oppurtunities offered. Right now I am seeing a psychiatrist for medicational purposes and seeing a therapist every 2 weeks to help with coping strategies. This combination and accelerated my growth. I had seen these types of people before, but it did not help because I was not wanting to be there.
But it has been recommended by many to do a combination of both, atleast at the very beginning because you need expert guided coping stategies, in my opinion, to be successful.

But most of us have abused alcohol and drugs and been arrested zooming around in cars blind, um, haven't we? (By the way, Hi, I'm T. I'm serious about the above which is my first post here. Abusing alcohol and other drugs is common so I've read, and I did my part.)
