Hi All In the past I have been on many meds, some helped usually not for long. My concern is I have been on adderall for about 2 years and it doesnt seem to work anymore. Was thinking of asking my doctor to switch to another stimulant. Example Desoxyn ETC. He has already tried all ritilin derivitives and I had various probs w/each. Has anyone else had this prob w/amphetamines. Thanks

Hi, and welcome!!
I am also on Adderall and I really like it. I have heard that after time it does loose it's effectiveness and you have to up the dosage. I haven't had that problem yet.
Have you tried the XR form. My DS had that and I really liked it for him. Maybe that would work as well, but last longer?? I dunno, but it might be worth asking about.
Good Luck....Becky

Hi Becky Thanks for the welcome etc. Right now I am on 60mgs of ext release a day, but have had something happen that has made a difference and caused me to drop to 40mgs. I was on Serzone also and found out it was making me dizzy at work also low BP. I quit taking It 5 days ago and havent felt better in a long time and the lower dose of adderall seems to be working great. Thanks again. I see Doc Fri. will see what he says.

That is good. I also take 40 mg a day, but if I get done with work in the morning then I only take 20mg, and not the afternoon dose. There is no need unless I have something I need to get done.
My son took too much when we were just trying to get him on the right meds and have them adjusted to the right doseage and he really wigged out on me. He got really paranoid and didn't sleep for 2 days. I really felt bad for him.

Ok, I need some advice. Let's pretend that I know someone who has been taking adderall for about 6 years and they have a rather severe tolerance to it. They tried the whole vacation thing for about a month, and it didn't really work. I think they'd be willing to go off of it for more time, if someone convincingly said that it would bring back the efficacy.
Which leads us to problem number two: what should they do in the interim? Are there any other meds out there that would make this vacation less unpleasant? Has anyone used any nootropics? Piraceatam? Are they worth a hoot? Are there any other drugs, preferably legal, that would allow them to get rid of there tolerance while they took this drug in the interim? Please keep in mind that this drug would probably need to be "hardcore."
Any advice in terms of actually making the drug effective again and helping in the quitting process would be much appreciated.

Hi my Doctor just put me on strattera and I am having horrible side effects which suprises me because I don't usually have side effects to most meds. It has been four days and I feel like someone turned the remote control in my head off. All the wandering and horrible thoughts are gone and the rage I feel most of the time is also gone. but the side effects are so bad I don't see how I can keep taking it. I feel sick to my stomach all day, I can't sleep, my heart is racing so fast It feels like its going to come out of my chest, but the worst side effect is the congestion, I can't breathe I am so congested its making me have asthma attacks all the time and now my chest hurts so bad it feels like my lungs are full of fluid. Has anyone else had these problems I can't believe I am going to have to stop taking a medicine that actually works because I can't tolerate it.
thanks, Rebecca

good God, girl! Call your DR.!!! Those are bad side effects and do not have to be tolerated! You must call your physician immediately and tell them EXACTLY what is going on. What are you waiting for? Go girl!
