Hello I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of the natural remedy called Focus ADDult...I found it off a website called Native Remedies? I have been on ritalin for about 7 years and I suppose it has been working okay. I have had no real problems with it. I don't even think I have side effects. What does happen is that when I am stressed which is all the time, I get really anxious and the ritalin does nothing for that, so even though I can focus on things...I seem to focus on the stress and that just overwhelms me and I feel so frustrated and I just have to for walks or do something to get the nervous energy out. I can read and study once I calm down. My ADD is the non-hyperactive kind...I am the exact opposite of hyperactive. The ritalin does seem to give me a little boost or zip but as I said if it hits the stress energy, I am like a volcano. This Focus ADDult is suppose to control anxiety as well as the distraction...I have never tried anything...anti-depressants or other versions of ritalin so I am a little apprehensive about something that is not a medical drug. I was just wondering what any of you think or would do or have tried? Thanks so much Jami

Have you tried to increase your exercise? That's a great stress reliever. Yoga is wonderful also, to help remind you to BREATHE when you are feeling stressed. Ritalin is giving me the feeling of volcano-ism, too ( I know, I SHOULD EXERCISE..... ) I think it's a rebound affect when the Ritalin wears off. I am trying to be aware of it and to stay rational at those times especially.... stay positive!

:)Andrea Thank you for the suggestion of exercising...I don't do that and I really should. I just started Pilates (as of the other day) and I found that I was not as frustrated. I never really thought about it till you mentioned it, but my errupting times do seem to be when the ritalin is wearing off. Thanks for that, do you do anything that helps during the rebound times? Thanks Jami

Regarding helpful hints for the erupting times... I'm very new with Ritalin (1.5 weeks so far) so I myself could use some suggestions.
As a new bride, what seems to work best for me is: a) realize my tendencies towards irrational emotions b) keep my mouth shut
There's a great book titled, "emotional intelligence" where I learned that our emotional brain receives information much faster than our rational brain. So, in our crazy mixed-up (and wondeful) brains, we THINK we're being rational but really, we're pretty much off the deep end.
I'm trying to evoke my grandmother and "count to 10 before I say anything." So far, my outbursts are getting shorter and shorter.
Admitting the tendency towards outbursts to friends/family does take the edge of the situation and lets us know what's really going on with you.
ISn't this a great forum?

I have seen ads for this stuff, but I have not idea how it works. I think before I tried it I would contact the company and get a list of what is in it. Then I'd ask my doc. Otherwise, who knows what they are sending to you? I also get the same way with being anxious and nervous in stressful situations. I am also not hyperactive, but I panic. It is a terrible feeling and some people think I have half nuts when it sets in. If you try it and it works let me know. I probably will have to keep taking my Adderall b/c I also take it for problems I have with excessive sleeping. Andrea, have you been more touchy with your emotions since you started meds? Sometimes they make people irritable and snappy. Sometimes being married does that also!! Just ask my hubby!! Also keep in mind, that impulsiveness is part of ADD so saying what is on your mind probably comes more naturally to you than others b/c some of us don't think before we speak. You can also put me in that catagory. Keep counting like grandma said.

Hi, New to the forum here. I have been taking Adderall XR for about 2 mos. 20 mg in am. I have been experiencing alot of irritation towards the afternoon and evening. I am having problems with the yelling and being super irritated over little things. Sounds and such are very irritating. Before I took Adderall I didn't have this, at least not daily! Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can stop this or at least reduce it? I do take Lexapro but I take it at night b/c I don't like the feelings I get when i take the Adderall and Lexapro together...they almost seem to be competing with each other. I need some help! Thx!
