Hello all, I am new to this ADD thing I was recently diagnosed and perscribed methylphenidate. Anyhow I have always had a hard time getting out of bed in the morn, even if I have gotten plenty of sleep. I was curious as to whether this is a common occurance with ADD or if it's just because mornings suck. Any input would be appreciated. Cheers.

While my doctor doesn't think I suffer from Adult ADD, although I think so (I think it was a case of me trying to self diagnose myself he didn't like) but I have the same problem of getting started in the morning. I have to really force myself outta bed no matter how much sleep I've had. The only exception is if I have somewhere I really want to be and there is a reason for me to get up. Like waking up to catch a plane when going on vacation, things like that. But to get up for work is a struggle every morning.

Did this problem start after you started taking your meds? I'm not familiar w/this medication so I would ask your doctor about it. Possibly you can take it at a different time during the day or maybe a lower dosage or even different medication would be possible.
Every night before I go to bed I make a list of the things I need to do first thing in the morning... it organizes me a bit and takes away some of the procrastination of actually getting out of bed.
Good luck to you!

Hello! I can't really be sure if this counts because I don't know whether I'm really classified as ADD but I have all the symptoms of the inattentive type from what i can tell... Mornings are difficult, i often get up in the afternoon, even if I have had enough sleep i find it really hard to get myself out of bed, though nights are difficult too as its hard to get to bed on time!
...Mornings suck but then i might be ADD lol Or i could just be a lazy thing, cos I love sleeping! Maybe need to do a survey of people with ADD and without and mornings...??
