I want to recommend to everyone a book that has changed my life. I was always the silent type who never believed that I deserved what I wanted. So I stayed in my little hole and rarely came out. Unfortunately, this lifestyle led to depression which intensified the further I got into depression. Then, my shrink recommended a book called A Perfect Right. It is a guide to assertiveness training.
