I just realized recently that I have adult add(I am 36). As long as I can remember my family has always criticized me. I always lose things, I can't remember a thing, I have stacks of paperwork and bills and things I need to do but I am so overwhelmed all of the time I never know where to start. I feel so lost all of the time. When my house needs cleaning I feel like I work and work and it only gets worse. I work at home but all I do is wander around my house and office trying to figure out where I should start but never can do it. I feel like I have been trapped in a nightmare for 15 years. My family thinks that I am just lazy but I'm not. I just don't know what to do. Sometimes I have my mom come over to help with my housework and she maps things out for me. And, I consider myself to be intelligent but this problem is making me just feel incompetent. Is there any way to get my life back? I already take celexa (an anti-depressant) and it helps but only keeping my emotions in line. I desperately need help. Thanks...

I am 37 years of age and I have been dealing with this ADD thing most of my life. However, it was hard to admit to myself that I have it. Recently, I have faced up to it, though. It seemed more of a chore to mask the ADD so I finally sought medical attention. Also, I have been fired from many jobs as much as I (or perhaps more) than I have kept them. I do not like having that kind of track record. Anyway, The doctor put me on Strattera and things are getting easier to deal with. I hope things continue to get better.

I myself have the same exact feelings as you do...my whole life as a kid my family critisized me, to. I never thought I was lazy..but that I just had a "problem" then I took an ADD test and sure enough that's what I got. I am hoping, also, that I will feel better once I start my medication.

I was where you are a little over a month ago. Medication has helped as well as educating myself. One day at a time and one task at a time. It helped me to discuss my diagnosis with my boss at work too. I am lucky to have a great boss and understanding company.

this is my first time at this site and I have just recently started taking strattera and it seems to be helping. I have been living with symptoms of add since my first year in school I am now 30yrs old. I would like some ideas on how to organize my life.
