I was diagnosed with ADD about 8 years ago, at age 44. I currently take ADDERALL, after trying ritalin and phenterimine, which were not effective. I have had to increase my ADDERALL dose over time, gradually to get the same effect. I researched other ADD drugs and noticed that Desoxyn (methamphetimine) is a drug that can be used when Adderall may not be effective. Does anyone know if this drug is commonly used in ADD treatment? Someone told me that politically, many psychiatrists wont prescribe it, due to the illicit use of the drug in the USA. I have also heard that they do not like to use it because it has addictive qualities, but it seems that shouldnt be a problem inasmuch as ADD is a lifetime condition. Does anyone know if there are other recommended drugs to be prescribed when Adderal is not effective?
Thanks for any information you can give on this subject.
