Hi.. they just put my 14 year old dd on this med. She took her first one yesterday (they started her on the 4 pk of 40 mg then going up to 60mg).. Well later in the day she just couldn't stay awake.. and when she did doze something scared her in her dozing moment and she jumped and grabbed her desk.. Even her teacher told me yesterday he has never seen her that tired.. I went in after school and explained "why" she might of been so tired.. and told him we are going to try it again and hopefully the symptoms will wear off.... Other than being tired she didn't see any difference... but I am sure that will take time as the meds. build up in her system... Any advice as I really know nothing about this..... And should she really feel any different.... Thank you Stacy

My 7 year old daughter is on Strattera which she has been taking for 2-3 months. It did seem to make her tired at first although she never fell asleep in class. I do know from other friends of mine that their kids have been known to fall asleep a little while after taking it. I have asked my daughter's doctor about it (just incase it does happen) and he says that is common and it would get better once she got used to the medicine. They started her on 20, went to 40, and we are now also on 60 mgs a day. Her doctor also told me that it can take about a month or two for her system to totally adjust. She still has a few bad days at school but it has gotten so much better here lately. Anyway, I hope this helps!
