Hi, I was just reading about all these different side affect that people have from taking different ADD meds. I was put on concerta for about two months and I loved it. I had to stop it because of my pregnancy. Has anyone had a problem with concerta?

Hi..im new to these boards, but I've become very interested in finding out more about adult add..my daughter (who is a young adult) was recently diagnosed with it, but now i'm convinced that this is what i've had all my life & didn't even know it. As i'm going through all the posts, i recognize myself everywhere! But in response to your question...my daughter has been on Concerta for the past 5 months and it's been great...she's much more focused & organized with little to no side effects...i may ask for the same med when i go to see my doctor...(p.s. congratulations!)

hi....I am 38 and recently diagnosed with ADD. After a failed trial with Strattera, my physician reluctantly prescribed Concerta. Wow! What a difference! We have had to make one dose adjustment, but otherwise it is going very well. I find that I don't have to make a conscious effort to complete tasks like I had to before. I am thankful for this medication and would encourage others to first do their homework and see if this drug is appropriate for them. People need to become strong health advocates for themselves. More people need to become informed consumers and then go for what they feel they need. Thanks for this site and for the support it gives.....good luck! ;D ;D ;DTEXT

I am a 33 year old recently diagnosed with adult add. I read "Driven to Distraction" by Hollowell & Ratey and it was like reading my life story. I was put on concerta but I became very irratible & edgy in the evening. The benefits during the day for me were not good enough to outweigh the side of effects of being irratible.

I am new here to this forum! I am also fairly new to the diagnosis of Adult ADD. I was diagnoised a month ago and was taking Concerta up until last week. The results during the day were a miracle. I was clear headed and focused for the first time in my life (I am 43) however, I started getting panic attacks at night...in the middle of night affecting my sleep. I new I had an appointment on a follow up in 3 days so I stopped taking the Concerta because of the horrible panic attacks. The days following were of a massive depression! My doctor put me on Lexapro for a few weeks until I go back to see him and I am off the Concerta completely. Not sure if anyone else has had panic attacks and or depression while on Concerta as a few side affects? Lori

Hi I have tried a variety of ADD meds throughout college and last year tried Strattera - hated that one I was a sleeping zombie - major yuk But to answer your question I am on Concerta now and have taken it before. I take 18mg (27mg was too much). So far I'm happy with it. I prefer the time-release meds to the others. (concerta is time-released) I can't say I've ever had any panic attacks. I have pain in my back muscles and neck but I also have to tell you that I have a major crooked spine and shoulder-blade. It's not visible to others but OUCH! Add meds in general always make my muscles very tense. As far as irritability -- It's easy to get busy and not realize that you haven't eaten yet and that your starting to get a headache which can make you irritable - but I personally have not experienced any irritability from Concerta. Good luck BamaGRL

Hi,
I just started today (18mg). I'm staying on Lexapro (10 mg) a day. And I'll take a xanax at night if I can't sleep.
I'll let you know!
