Newbie here. Just diagnosed a month or so ago. But I'm so messed up and disorganised that I'm destitute. My friend paid for my doctor's appointment. Now I have a prescription for Adderall that I can't even afford to get filled. What can I do? Yes, I have insurance. But I can't afford the co-pay (my friend is now broke, too). When I say destitute, I mean it. I'm going to be on the streets in a couple of weeks... I want something to go right this month...

Have you checked with your doctor to see if he or she has free samples? I got put on Strattera and my doctor gave me three weeks worth of free samples. Maybe it is because Strattera is a new drug and not a controlled substance. It is still worth a shot though. Also, you could check with the free clinic in your area. They may or may not be able to help since you already have insurance but it is worth a shot.
Hope things start going your way soon.

If you need to get on Straterra now and don’t have the money ask your doctor to sponsor you for the “Lilly Cares” program. After you and your doctor fill out their forms they will give you several months of medication free. It might be all you need to get on track so you can afford to stay on the drug. I used the program myself. Have you checked with your doctor to see if he or she has free samples? I got put on Strattera and my doctor gave me three weeks worth of free samples. I too have also just recently been diagnosed with Adult ADD. My husband is disabled and we have a 7 year old daughter who is AD/HD so I understand the meaning of no money (I'm a college student majoring in mental health). As far as the money situation goes for doctors and prescriptions, I go to our local county clinic as it is based on your income. I don't know where you are located but, I'm pretty sure all states have county programs. You have a good friend that is willing to help you out and that's great!
